St. Vladimir’s Academy isn’t just any boarding school—it’s a hidden place where vampires are educated in the ways of magic and half-human teens train to protect them. Rose Hathaway is a Dhampir, a bodyguard for her best friend Lissa, a Moroi Vampire Princess. They’ve been on the run, but now they’re being dragged back to St. Vladimir’s—the very place where they’re most in danger...
Rose and Lissa become enmeshed in forbidden romance, the Academy’s ruthless social scene, and unspeakable nighttime rituals. But they must be careful lest the Strigoi—the world’s fiercest and most dangerous vampires—make Lissa one of them forever.

Ello out there people! Greetings months later....There will be spoilers in this review! We have had things going on and I'm trying to get some reviews up so bare with us! I decided to reread the Vampire Academy series last week or at least start it. Anyway Vampire Academy isn't my favorite book out of the series so far. Because my favorite character isn't in it until Frostbite (the second book). Anyway....
As I was saying....What was I saying? Ah I don't know but I'll begin again. Vampire Academy is focused on the life of dhampir, Rose Hathaway and her best friend Lissa Dragomir. Rose is seventeen and slated to be her best friend's guardian once they get out of the Academy. The book starts off where they get caught by the Academy's guardians and taken back to the Academy. They were out on their own for 2 years because Rose had gotten a warning that Lissa was in danger and that the Academy wasn't safe.
So Rose is behind in her guardian schooling and one of the guardians (swoon worthy) Dimitri is chosen to mentor her on the side so she can catch up and graduate on time. This so wasn't what Rose had in mind....but I'm sure she would be all like.....
At least I would be. Dimitri is super swoon worthy with the muscles to match. Another thing.....he's 24.... Let's go on before I get distracted again. Well let's switch to Lissa. Moroi have elements that they specialize in and she never has. Not long ago Rose and Lissa were in the car with Lissa's parents and brother when they had a horrible car accident. Lissa and Rose were the only survivors. Well sort of. Rose was killed in the accident and unknown to both of them, Lissa brought her back to life. You see Lissa specialized in spirit which no one knew existed. This bonded Lissa and Rose. Rose can see and sense what is happening to Lissa without having to be there. Rose is shadow-kissed. I will go into more details in later reviews about that.
Anyway fast-forward a little..... Lissa's uncle Victor had Lissa kidnapped when she was having a little meeting with her soon to be boyfriend Christian. Why you ask? Well I'll tell you. Victor was suffering from some kind of disease. He kidnapped Lissa to force her to heal him. To distract Rose from realizing what was happening to her and distract Dimitri ( who is Lissa's other guardian also) put a lust charm on a necklace he brought Rose. So with Rose and Dimitri being attracted to each other this magnified it tenfold.....and no nothing happened...but almost....Just sayin' these aren't for younger kids.
Uh huh honey. haha! I make myself laugh sometimes. Anyway they figure it out just in time and they race to Lissa's rescue. That's pretty much where it trails off minus a few details. I can't spoil everything!
I give Vampire Academy a 5 out of 5 stars
a 5 out of 5 roses for romance
and a 4 out of 5 stakes for violence
and an age rating of 16 and up.
