But when Noah Hutchins, the smoking-hot, girl-using loner in the black leather jacket, explodes into her life with his tough attitude and surprising understanding, Echo's world shifts in ways she could never have imagined. They should have nothing in common. And with the secrets they both keep, being together is pretty much impossible.
Yet the crazy attraction between them refuses to go away. And Echo has to ask herself just how far they can push the limits and what she'll risk for the one guy who might teach her how to love again.
Echo Emerson has a hard couple of years. Between her brother dying and her crazy mother trying to kill her I think I would react the same way she did. She drops out the last month of her sophmore year of high school and pretty much becomes introvert. She had a boyfriend and popular friends, but she pretty much lost all of them except for her friend Lila or "Glenda the Good Witch". Four months till graduation her new therapist gives her tutoring job to help her pay rebuild her brother's car. Echo meets Noah Hutchins in the library and realizes that he is the one that made fun of her name the day before. Before they get the chance to do anything Noah leaves. As Echo follows she slips and falls and her sleeves slid up and show her badly scarred up arms. Noah and Echo make a deal to continue the tutoring lessons and they soon fall in love.
Noah Hutchins is a weed smokin', don't care what you think of me kind of person. Noah's parents died in a house fire two years before and was thrown into foster care and was separted from his little brothers Tyler and Jacob. Noah has been moved from several different homes.
