In magical Victorian London, orphan Tessa found safety with the Shadowhunters, until traitors betray her to the Magister. He wants to marry her, but so do self-destructive Will and fiercely devoted Jem. Mage Magnus Bane returns to help them. Secrets to her parentage lie with the mist-shrouded Yorkshire Institute's aged manager Alyosius Starkweather.
As I re-read these books, I realize just how sad they are and how they rip your heart out and stomp on it. My four year old sister asked me what my book was called, It was at a sad part and all I could do was make whining noises and crying noises. She then told me,"What is its real name?". Even my sister has grown used to my fangirling ways.
On to the book!
It picks up a few weeks after the ending of Clockwork Angel. Actually it is a fortnight after, but I am too lazy to look up how long a fortnight is. I think it is around two weeks?
Tessa and Jem have grown extremely close since the whole roof incident with Will. Will has been avoiding Tessa since then. Will tries to redeem himself(because he feels bad),but it ain't happening. Tessa is still heartbroken and doesn't want anything to do with him.

Jem has a more prominent role in this book more than Will. Tessa still has feelings for Will, but he has broke her heart so she tries to stay away from her,but she still gets stuck in awkward situations with him. Lemonade and demon powder. I love Will as you know, but they both has problems. Jem does too. He is dying slowly and living solely of demon powder( Yin Fey). They both have problems, but they are different. One of them is dying and the other has love issues. I mean who doesn't have issues?
Will and Magnus Bane become friends through out the book. (You may know Magnus from The Mortal Instruments) Magnus has been hunting the demon that killed Will's sister for him. Will spends a lot of his time with Magnus so he doesn't have to be around Tessa. Will finally opens up to Magnus about why the way he is and it made me sad. I don't think it made Madison sad, but who cares!
Jem and Tessa relationship has some ups and downs. I can't really give away anything, but I will say they have misunderstandings. Jessamine has a couple of secrets of her own which involves men's clothing and sneaking out at night.
I will just say that Nate is back. Sophie, she was in the first one,but she has a bigger part and is more involved. Sophie is sometimes timid, but later on in the book, she becomes more aggressive and gets what she wants. On some levels, I think I am the most relate-able to her, not Tessa or any of the other woman. She can be outspoken, but it is rare if she is. If I want something, I hate asking for it. I hate bothering people and I would rather just get it myself. Gideon is a Lightwood and is also brother to Will's arch-nemesis Gabriel. Gideon and Gabriel come into the book at the beginning to train Sophie and Tessa. Jem and WIll aren't able to train thembecause they havn't been able to finish their training. The Clave(or Counsel or whatever it is called I get all the messed up.)
send the Lightwood boys to train them. Gideon is the one training Sophie and they become close. I just like duh! if a hot guy is getting all close and personal with you and teaching you how to fight, I would be a little attractive to him. I personally love Gideon and Sophie together, but they keep it a secret the whole book.
I really really love this book. The next one is a tear jerker and I will probably have a lot of crying gifs in Clockwork Princess. This is probably a stinky review, but it is the best I can do. I am just not in a creative book review writing mode lately which is why they have been lacking.
I hope you enjoyed my review. It probably stunk and probably doesn't make any sense. Like I said, nothing wants to come out of my brain. Please leave a comment and thank you for reading!
